American Jobs For American Workers

Been through lots of hard times over the past 67 years but I’ve made it on my own without asking for any help from anyone along the way. I served my country by joining the army for four years in the early sixties. I could have applied for medical and other benefits’ but I didn’t. I never felt the country owed me anything for my service other than the pay I received while I was on active duty. I’ve believed in and lived by conservative principals all my life, but I must admit that I’ve become somewhat disillusioned of late with the so-called champions of the conservative movement. Especially the talk radio host. They claim to be the voice of the people (the moral majority). Well where was the majority on election day and what’s moral about being reduced to name calling when your out of ideas. I was labeled a TROL and banned for life from the Sean Hannity forums last week. The reason given "showing disrespect for Rush Limbough. "Now can you beleive that" (Russ Limbough is not to be disrespected) Well sorry folks a whiner is a whiner and not worthy of a whole lot of respect in my book. My offending post came about while I was advocating for a conservative alterative to Mr Osama’s “Spread The Wealth” tax cut plan. The offending comment was (Russ Limbough makes millions for doing nothing but set on his a$$ all day and whine.) O K maybe I owe Russ an apology and I do apologize for the way I worded the entry but not for the truth it implies. The problem I have with most conservatives I’ve encountered is they show very little compassion. My mother raised 5 children working as a grocery checkout clerk. I myself had to work for very low wages early in life so I know what it is to struggle. A conservative will tell you that he values hard work but don’t believe it because nobody values hard work. He may admire a man for working hard and feel distain for those that refuse but the value placed on hard work is determined by supply and demand. You will pay only as much as you have to pay to find a willing worker. Have you every had a discussion with a hard line conservative about the working poor? The first thing he will say is they need to educate themselves and find another job. Yes that works for the ones that take his advice but what about the jobs they leave behind. Those jobs don’t go away, we need them. We need the worker who work nights to come in and clean the office. We need the tree trimmers, landscape and lawn maintenance workers, fast food workers and all those other jobs that keep millions of workers trapped in poverty. Most conservatives oppose trade unions, oppose minimum wage mandates, oppose Mr Osama’s “Spread The wealth plan because of it being a handout disguised to look like a tax refund. What are we for? John McCain’s conservative answer to the Obama plan was “I will keep your tax rates low”. For Christ Sake! how is low tax rates going to help the guy that can’t even afford to be put on the tax rolls. We not only lost the election we deserved to lose. The country has failed the working poor by allowing a flood of illegal immigrants come across the border a compete for his job and we all benefited from the cheap labor at the consumer level but boy have we paid for it as tax payers. Fact is cheap labor is a myth. We will all pay in one way or another like it or not. I don’t know if we will ever be able to rid the workplace of foreign nationals or not but I do know its time to give the American worker a competitive advantage.
